What’s in Your Beauty Products?

I have been noticing new “green” or “organic” products popping up everywhere. From the grocery store to exclusive salons and retailers. While this is an exciting step in the right direction.  Choosing “green” or “organic” is not always a safe choice, but simply some savy marketing and pretty packaging.  Most of us do not know what the long, scientific sounding chemicals are in our beauty products. Many are not properly regulated by the FDA, and are known carcinogens linked with health problems including cancer.  I have spent countless hours researching the products we carry at Terra Bella to ensure they are safe and effective.  I would love to recomend an online resource tool for your own research.  Simply go to http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/  and type in an igredient or product name. You will get a full description of the chemicals in the product and a rating of their toxicity based on international published scientific research.  I guarantee you will be suprised to find out that many commonly found ingredients in beauty products are also used in industrial cleaners, or are industrial by-products and are rated as highly toxic to humans!  So check it out and educate yourself before buying new “green” or “organic” products.  We can only make good choices if we know what we are looking at!
